Increased exposure to radiation from mobile phones may impact memory in your teenage children, warn Korean researchers.

The findings showed that exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) emitting from cell phone usage for more than a year may have a negative influence on the maturation of figural memory in adolescents.

Figural memory is mainly located in the right brain hemisphere and institution with RF-EMF was pronounced in teens using the cell phone on the right side of their mind.

"Potential risks to the mind could be minimized by using headphones or the loudspeaker while calling, specifically when network quality is reduced and the cell phone is functioning at maximum power"

Importantly, other facets of wireless communication usage, like sending text messages, playing games or browsing the net showed only marginal RF-EMF exposure into the brain and weren't connected to the maturation of memory function.

But,"it isn't yet clear how RF-EMF could potentially affect brain processes or how important our findings have been in the long-term", Roosli explained, emphasizing the need for further research to rule out the effect of other factors.

The study follows up a report in 2015 using double the sample size and latest info on the absorption of RF-EMF in teens' brains during different kinds of wireless communication apparatus usage.
